Club Rules & Policies

1. General

Fair, courtious and ethical play defines the fundamental guiding principle for all curling at Highland Country Club.

In general, and except where noted, curling at Highland Country Club is governed by the rules of the Canadian Curling Association (CCA).

2. Cell Phones

Cell phones may not be used in the ice shed, during play. If you absolutely must have your phone with you, please make sure it is on vibrate, and leave the ice shed before having your conversation.

3. Time Clock Rule

The time clock is used to ensure that league games do not extend beyond their allotted time, both to allow proper maintenance of the ice between games and to allow subsequent games to begin on time.

For all leagues, no end shall start within 10 minutes of the scheduled end-time for that game.

4. Dress Code

Members and guests must adhere to the Highland Country Club dress code in the club house, offices, lounges, meeting rooms, locker rooms, and Pro Shop.

5. OCA Dues

OCA dues are required to be paid by all curlers representing the club at OCA and national events:

• OCA dues are mandatory for all Full and Limited curling members
• OCA dues are an optional extra for Friday Night, Intermediate, Student and Social members
• Little Rocks, Bantam & Junior OCA dues are covered by Highland, as required.

Section Rules & Policies

Rules and policies, specific to each curling section, are generally posted on the bulletin boards in their respective locker rooms, and outside the ice shed. These include:

• Spares and 5^th players
• Scoring
• Defaulted Games
• Tied Games
• Bell Timing
• Pace of Play
• Delayed Starts
• Flight Movement
• Playoffs
• etc.

Conflict Resolution

During a game, the official referee is (if present):

1. the convener or drawmaster of the section/league/event,
2. then, any member of the committee organizing the section/league/event.

A ruling by a referee during the game is considered final and binding.

For issues that occur off-ice, the official referee is the convener or drawmaster of the section/league/event. The draw-master/scorekeeper is subject to the oversight of the organizing committee of the section/league/event. The section/league/event committee is subject to the oversight of the Executive Curling Committee.
